1. Administration
• Keeping records of stock and operational costs
• Coordinating front and back of house operations
• Producing staff rotas
• Weekly financial reporting
• Managing reservations

2. Customer Service
• Greeting and advising customers
• Delivering Food and Beverage service meeting customer expectations
• Creating positive customer relations
• Dealing with customer inquiries and complaints

3. Human Resources
• Recruiting, training and supervising staff
• Managing workflow and productivity
• Managing staff rotas
• Conducting performance appraisals

4. Supply procurement
• Keeping inventory and ordering supplies
• Dealing with vendors and monitoring product quality
• Researching and planning menus

5. Health, safety and legal
• Ensuring compliance with licensing and health and safety
• Maintaining policies and protocols

6. Marketing
• Working to expand the restaurants clientele through promotions and advertising
• Maintaining and promoting the image of the restaurant

Restaurant Manager Profile

Character

Must have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the food and drink served in the restaurant to be able to provide customer and staff with any information needed.
Must be organized, good problem solving skills and able to make decisions quickly.
Must be able to manage budgets and make a profit.
Must have excellent team management and communication skills

Experience

Front of House or customer service experience is essential for the customer facing responsibilities of the job.
Proven experience and skills in food safety knowledge, financial literacy, inventory record keeping, stock control.

Qualifications

None specifically needed, but a complete education to Diploma level preferred.
Many courses useful, such as stock control, financial planning and record keeping, health and safety, marketing and sales.
Degree in Hospitality Management.
